How To Check Your Balance Account?

How can I check my bank balance in the US in my UK Lloyd's TSB bank account?

  • Hi, I'm having great difficulty with being able to check my bank balance as its not displayed on my cash point or ATM slips when I withdraw cash. I also went into a bank to find out if they could check my balance for me but they said that they can't check because my bankcard is to a British bank (Lloyd's TSB) Its really aggravating me as I don't know how much I'm being charged for using my card over here in the states and whats even more aggravating is that I can not find any info on the Lloyd's TSB site in regards to finding that out. I also wasted around $10 on international calling to phone them up from overseas only to be put on hold and when somebody finally picked up after leaving me on hold for 45 mins they hung up on me, so I'm still left with not knowing how much I'm being charged for using my card in the US and still don't have a clue on what my bank balance is. I'd appreciate any advice Thanks in advance.

Balance: If you are registered for online banking you can try and check there or telephone banking you can maybe check your last transactions and balance. Alternatively try to call them again, but don't call the usual 0845 numbers because calling from overseas it will cost ALOT as you have discovered. So call them on +44 1733 347 007 which will cost an international call but not a premium rate (consider it like calling home not a business) that is the number for customer services I took from their website just now. Charges: The amount is converted to sterling on the day it is processed. Assuming you have a Visa debit card this is processed using the exchange rate set by Visa plus a 2.99% foreign exchange fee Cash withdrawals are also subject to: Debit cards: 1.5% of the amount with a minimum transaction charge of £2.00 and a maximum charge for each transaction of £4.50. Cashpoint® cards: 1.5% of the amount with a minimum transaction charge of £1.50. Please note: there is no maximum transaction fee When making purchases (not cash withdrawals) abroad in a currency other than sterling a £1 charge for each transaction except where a Platinum Debit is used. Basically they charge you mad amounts. I heard Nationwide do a good bank account to use overseas with lower fees, might be worth considering for holidays/trips abroad etc. Good luck!
