How Do I get windows back up-and-running. UBUNTU 10.__ FAIL!?
-
Hello, i have a Gateway SX2802-02c (specs below), and i recently tried to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10. something. anyway, when i was installing, i got a message that said something, and then "this is a fatal error", now i can't boot into Windows 7, or ubuntu. The strange part is the fact that i can run Ubuntu from the disc that i have with the operating system on it (and access my windows files through Ubuntu). I Just tried to re-install Windows 7 using the recovery discs that i created when i first got the computer, but it will not boot into the OS. Please help me. i have the option of restoreing the computer to factory defaults (completly erase drive C: which Windows 7 is on). i also have a windows install disc. to explain better, i boot up the computer, it does the usual beep, and i get the splash screen, then i get a black screen, with a blinking "-", and then it just beeps at me, and it goes no further. i have a laptop if it would help me at all. Please help me, i really need it. Computer Specs: Brand: Gateway Model: SX2802-02c Processer: Intel Quad core 2duo memory: 6 GB HDD: 750GB SATA Graphics: Integrated OS: Windows 7 Home Premium PLEASE HELP ME!

Answer:
whats happened by sounds is that the installation has failed to install the bootloader, ubuntu uses something called grub, if you want to give up altogether all you need do is reinstall the boot loader for windows. Using the windows disc not the recovery one you made, insert that and boot to it using whatever function key you need when you turn it on, then from the windows options select repair, the windows disc should scan the drive and see that the bootloader is missing reinistall it and work...
