Where can i watch and download proper tv shows and films for free without signing up to anything?

there is a ton of lets be honest.. crap sites that require you to sign up, hidden costs, and low Quality videos with the added risk of viruses. all i want is a descent site to download shows like the Simpson's, family guy, doctor who... you get the idea. suggestions please (with link please) and please don't suggest torrents it to much hassle really (being as it takes quite a while to download and you have to pay to be able to put on things like your ipad....
