I would first look in local thrift stores. Many people had Polaroid cameras, and when the film was unavailable for a few years, they dumped them at thrift stores. You can also look at camera stores that specialize in catering to the film photography crowd; their cameras are more likely to have been fully tested, and might come with a 90 day warranty. Since California is a very big state, I can't name specific stores, but if you look in your area, you might be able to find one. By the way, you can get the film for these cameras. I am with Trixie. In fact I sold these Polaroid cameras for ten years in retail sales, in the 1960's. I very soon did anything to talk people OUT of making a Polaroid purchase! two out of three sales came back for refunds! Why? because you could hardly expect to get two usable pictures out the eight in the film pack! Now a days there are some places where you can buy Polaroid film, but it cost about $2.00 a shot! Why on earth would someone want technology that was 40-to50 years out of date is beyond me. And why would anyone want to spend upwards from $2.00 a shot when better, longer LASTING pictures ca be had for the big sum of 13 cents! With today's digital cameras you get an almost wallet size image on the LCD showing you how the picture will come out. Ad to that for only one hour more you can have a print that will not fade in your lifetime for the big sum of 13 cents!

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a polaroid camera, but once you get one it's going to be a fancy paperweight because the film is difficult to find and what is available is super expensive.

Before you buy it check that you can get film - the older Polaroids are little more than paperweights cos no film is availaable.

The question should be:"why would anybody want one"? If you had asked this question a few weeks ago I would have sent you the two I threw in the garbage. Garbage, where everything Polaroid belongs.
