Can my 1991 honda civic d15b2 1.5L non vtec engine be fast?

yes you can make it fast. it all depends on how fast you want it. if you want it as fast a vtec engine that is really easy as the vtec just holds the valves open longer to let in more air. dont waste your time or money on bolt-ons like headers exhaust pulleys etc. just go turbo best bang for your buck. it will cost the same as all those and you will be making lots more hp (i'm talking about a simple kit, not an big turbo with all the internal works.) If you want to be really fast then you need to do your research and what you want to use it for, street, drag, everyday driver with weekend warrior, etc. but a simple turbo kit will keep things simple and wont cost much.

A vtec is just a vacuum operated trimming advance so it doesn't make much difference. If you turbo the hell out if it then yes it will be fast, but you need to Google torque steer. You can get a lot of power out of it but you wont be able to use much of it. Honestly leave the fwd 4 cylinders cars alone they are made for economy.

Only one thing can make a civic fast, that is grafting it onto a rear wheel drive platform with a 3+liter engine. Your money is better spent on a different car. Making a civic fast is like using a pair of scissors to cut a lawn, its the wrong tool for the job.

d15b2 engine wont hold stock internals on much boost especially if its high milage id to maximum of 5 psi but you cannot rev it out all the time otherwise it will blow the stock internals outside of the block
