  • Hi! I lived in New York until I was 3, now I'm 13 and going to the Statue of Liberty in April! I have a few questions: 1) I heard that the Statue of Liberty was having a year-long renovation done, is this true? If so, from when until when. 2) How long does the ferry ride take from NYC to the island on which the Statue of Liberty located and how much does it cost? 3) Where do you leave from in NYC and what is the name of the island the statue is on? I've heard Ellis Island and I've heard Liberty Island...? 4) How much does it cost to get into the Statue of Liberty/do you need a ticket or something? 5) What are you allowed to bring into the statue? 6) Where can you go in the statue? 7) How long does it take to reach these places in the statue? Thank you so much! (:

My friend, as of October 29, 2011, all interior and exterior levels of the Statue of Liberty and the pedestal are restricted as the pedestal undergoes a year long renovation. The museum on Liberty Island, the pedestal observation level and crown are not currently accessible. Visitors are still able to access the grounds of Liberty Island during the renovation.
