I am looking for job opportunities in New York City?

  • I am a 22 year old who will be spending the summer from May - August (4 months) in New York City (housed in Queens but able to travel) and will be looking for employment opportunities while I am living in the city. I've never job searched before in this city and am curious what my best plan of action should be. I am currently a university student scheduled to graduate December 2012. I am majoring in Spanish and minoring in Accounting. I have 4 years of clerical work experience as an Office Assistant / Information Desk employee, and also possess experience in Human Services (Assistant Respite Care Coordinator), Instruction (have my own website for Spanish lessons / tutoring), Entry-Level Management (Kitchen Management/Cashiering and Finances), and possess skills in many areas. What is the best way to start job searching in such a massive city, especially for temporary work? Are there reputable temp agencies? Should I stick to lower-end jobs since it is temporary? I'm looking for a jumping off point! Any help is appreciated :) Thank you!
