Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite...?
-
So here I am again! 5:00 in the morning, researching more than I'd like to know about bed bugs. Why? Well, a few months ago, my grandmother decided to buy some "used" furniture for me. I honestly should've known better letting my grandma bring that into the house. Anyway, my household was only to find out that the couches were infested. When I woke up one morning, I noticed several brownish looking bugs under my pillow. Horrified, I find something to smash them with, seeing blood. Then remembering, insects don't really HAVE, red blood. I informed my mother that they were bed bugs, and we ended up going to a professional to have them search the home, and sure enough, there were bed bugs in the couches. The heating treatment was then done for our home. Goodbye, $1200. After everything was done, there were no more bed bugs in sight, until about 1 and a half months later, when I saw one more. When there's one, there's plenty more. Refusing to believe this, I ignored it. Months went by, and I wasn't getting bitten, until about last night. Before going to bed I noticed a bed bug on my hanging clothes, later waking up at around 4:15 in the morning, my arm bitten up, feeling, and seeing tiny bed bug nymphs near my pillow. I didn't sleep that night. So, I washed my sheets. Took out the clothes hanging in my closet. Bagged everything up from my room and dried it for 30 minutes in the dryer. Sprayed a pesticide called "GoodNight" by Sprayaway (for dust mites, fleas, ticks, bed bugs, etc.) in every nook and cranny in my room, took off my mattress and box spring (they are covered with those zip up bed bug proof protectors, thank God). Sprayed my bed slats (my bed is wooden), the frame, and everything else virtually possible. Went to bed. Guess what time I wake up at? 4:15 AM. And I see two almost full grown bed bugs around where I was sleeping, and feel other unpleasant light brushes and tickles. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight either. They aren't in my mattress. They aren't in my box spring. They aren't in my slats; even if they were, they would've died from the direct contact with the Sprayaway product I drenched them in. The only places I think they would be in, is in the barely open crack in my baseboards, which I sprayed, somewhere in my ancient bookshelf, or the small hole in my wall made from my doorknob, which I don't THINK leads outside in anyway. Would we really have to fork over $1200 more dollars, even though the last treatment might not have been efficient? Also, the only place I've noticed these bed bugs are in my closet, probably where they're coming from. My bed is very near my closet, but regardless, they're attracted to us humans exhaling carbon dioxide, and can sense this from yards away. Could there be an infestation source near my home? Thanks!!

Answer:
Bed bugs can go a year without eating. And if they were in the walls and their eggs during the treatment, they did not die. It is important that along the baseboards get treated. They can crawl through the electric plugs. Bed bugs get inside the walls, in cracks and crevices. They will get under the night stand. They usually need to be treated 2 to 3 times. You are treating them your self this time.

In summer camp, people sleep in a tent to stop mosquito bites. The method is simple and efficient. No one sprays chemicals to kill mosquitoes in everywhere. A sticky barrier around entire bed is good enough to make top of bed to be bed bug free no matter how many bed bugs in mattress or in bed frame. This method is simple and efficient, but no one uses it, every one sprays chemical to bed bugs in everywhere. The poor methods kill 8? % or 9? % bed bugs and the survived each bed bug may continually bite people and lay 300 eggs after meals. Mosquitoes can fly and bed bugs can’t fly, it is easier for people to stop bed bug bites than mosquito bites. A sticky barrier is good enough to make separation between people and bed bugs. A tent does not kill any mosquitoes; the sticky barrier traps all of bed bugs in the room because each hungry bed bug can easily find sleeping people by its excellent smell sensor. Why do people use right method to fight with mosquitoes but use wrong methods to fight with bed bugs? If you can answer this question correctly, you can easily get rid of bed bugs.
