Do you have all the materials you need? 2x2 pieces of wood as long as you want the doghouse to be long and high. Fence panels. Waterproofing material (as seen on top of sheds) Hammer, nails. Staple gun (optional but will make the roof look better) You should have a few pieces of 2x2 in whatever length/height you're building the doghouse. First, basically build two squares out of some of the 2x2, one will be the base, leave the other to the size just now. (make sure these are the same size!) If the doghouse is big and the dog is heavy, you may want extra pieces of 2x2 inside the square to make it stronger and support the floor better. Then attach 1 piece of 2x2 at each corner. The walls will attach to these. Get your other square and attach this to the top. You should ideally have 3 pieces of 2x2 left. Cut 2 of these in half and calculate the angle you'll need to saw off for the corners to sit on the top of your basic cube for the roof. Remember you'll have to cut two corners off each piece for them to join the cube and together at the peak. (If you are cutting one corner off of the left bottom, you will ant to cut the left top off too, not the top right!) Once you've done this, your last piece should fit perfectly/slightly tightly between the peaks. Attach this in to make it stronger and easier to attach the roof. Attach diagonally so the beam make a point like the peak. /\ if it's not the same angle just sand it down untill it is. Now you should have panels for the walls. Fence panels should be fine as long as they're not painted with a paint that is toxic to dogs. (check the tin for ingrediants and internet for toxicity) You may want to sand any sharp corners off of the 2x2's inside before attaching the floor and walls. It'd be a pain to do it when it's finished. After you've done this, attach the flooring first, you may wish to cut 2 squares out of 2 corners for the end flooring pieces so that you can put them in securely and attach them to the other beam, instead of risking a gap. Then you can put in some spare carpet or whatever to make it comfier and easier to clean out. (don't nail the carpet in) Also be very sure to make sure no nails are sticking out, they could injure your dog. Next are the walls! (leave one out for door) Simply cut the panels to size and nail them all on! You may want to go to somewhere like b&q and ask if they have any wooden corner protectors so you can cover up any little gaps or overlaps, making it look neat and slightly more wind proof! Next the door, you left one wall out so now all you have to do is get the paneling and cut out a hole/door big enough for your dog to get in and out easily. Then simply sand it and attach it! then more of those corner protectors to neaten up the other edges! Now for the roof. You'll need paneling and the waterproof stuff that goes on top of sheds! Simply attach the paneling, very easy because of the beam between the peaks, be careful again not to let nails poke though the wood though. Make sure the roof doesn't end with the walls. It needs to go over about an inch an a half to stop rain getting in any possible gaps. Once that's done you get the waterproofing and make sure there's about an inch overlap over the entire roof, not just two sides! You may want a wall stapler instead of a hammer this time. Lay it over the roof in the position you want it in and staple at the peak to secure, that way tugging to make sure it's tight wont just pull it off. Then, tug it gently to make it tight and staple just under the edge, then secure the end by taking it as far as it'll go under the overlap and staple it there. Repeat this on all sides of the roof and you're done! Good Luck Best wishes :) Ps. sorry it was so long haha
