Whats going on with my anitfreeze coolant in my car?
-
I have to keep adding anitfreeze coolant to my car ever 3 or 4 days. I dont know where its going, i have checked for leaks, its not leaking out on the ground. I notice a sizzle under the hook, its coming one of the hoses at the top of the hose where the hose clamps to another part, from the antifreeze coolant section (My Heat stops working in my car of course until i fill it back up) Any suggestions anybody?

Answer:
If you dont notice any antifeeeze below your car or on your driveway It could possibly be leaking into your oil I have this problem with my truck (mine leaks so little I decided not to even bother fixing it)... And when the antifreeze gets low it starts taking in air from the resovoir... This creates what's called and air lock (just and air bubble). It stops the antifreeze from flowing through the heater core which will stop your air from blowing hot.... Sometimes an air lock will also cause your vehicle to overheat so of it does you will need to open te rad cap enough to let the air out so the antifreeze can flow again... But be very careful doing this, it's under ALOT of pressure and can blow up in your face... And talking from experience hot antifreeze does not feel good.

Make, model, and year are important. What I am guessing at is a GM V6 or V8 engine in something made since 1996 but at least a few years old. In that case a bad intake manifold gasket is the top suspect. GM and Ford V6/V8 engines are also prone to cracked intake manifolds, which can leak enough into the inside to endanger the engine. Of course, if there is a history of overheating a failed head gasket is a major concern.

your gonna have to run the car while its hot and while the engine is running keep looking for the leak. Look for steam. Leaks are hard to find sometimes to spend as much time as you can. Also check your oil to make sure its not milky with white swirls to make sure its not a head gasket leak

tighten the hose clamp where the sizzling is. might need new hose & clamps.
