How to disable alarm on 1997 F150?

Fiesta car alarm goes off intermittently, please help?

  • Hello, I have a 1997 Ford Fiesta Ghia X. The door open warning light on the dashboard flickers on and off a lot while driving and when I've locked the car and walked away the alarm goes off. This keeps flattening the battery and is driving me crazy. I took it to a garage and they fiddled around with the door sensors etc and this fixed it for about 3 weeks but now it's happening again. I think the alarm is going off because it thinks the door is opening because of the faulty sensor? Either way I don't want an alarm on the car I just want to disable it permanently I've heard of a fuse being able to do this but when I looked at the owners handbook the fuses and relays all seemed to operate not just the alarm but also the horn? How can I just shut the alarm off without disabling anything else? If anyone has any idea that would be great! Many thanks!

  • Answer:

You could always clip the wires. But it's not adviseable.

Try a different garage or preferably an auto electrician. Should be a simple matter of pulling on doors to see which one is causing the fault, then swapping the switch. Just one philips screw to undo from memory.

The door open sensor can't that expensive or difficult to change, that's your best bet.

I had exactly this car, well not your one but exactly the same!! When you pop the bonnet theres a little black push switch that the bonnet should close the circuit of when its closed. Mine kept doing exactly the same, in the end i just taped the switch down and it never bothered me since! I did find when i locked the doors and the hazards flash, the horn beeped for a split second dont know if yours does too? Anyway good luck!

why not just replace the door sensor, it cant be that expensive, and you never know, one day the alarm can help you holding on to your car.
