What is a good cheap dirtbike to buy?

What type of dirtbike should I buy as a beginner?

• I'm looking to buy my first dirt bike and not sure what type I should be looking for. I've driven one a long time ago, but not since. I have driven motocycles for years including 1000cc sport bikes. I think the issue for me will be my height. I'm only 5'6 and 155lbs. Not sure if I should be looking for a 125 or a 250. I'm only looking to hit trails and maybe when I have some experience on the bike, take it to a dirt track to try it out. Really just looking to get some riding in on the weekends. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

  If you have ridden a liter bike I assume you have clutching and shifting figured out. 2 stroke 125's are fun and light, they can also be lowered if you think you need to for about $150 if you buy a lowering link. The four stroke 125s and 150s are heavy, sluggish and have poor suspension, they are great for kids and people who have never ridden anything before but they aren't that great for an intermediate rider. You can also get a 4 stroke 250 but I really like the 2 strokes, they tend to be lighter, simpler, cheaper, and have peaky power band. Some people see the power band as a negative but I think it makes it more fun to scream a little 125 around in the woods.
