How do I cancel an order on ebay?

How can I cancel an order I placed on ebay if the seller won't respond to my messages?

  • I bought a book from Ebay thinking I would need it for class, it comes to be that it isn't required for the course and I don't need it but I have already paid for it but since I won't need it I really want my money back. How can I cancel my order if the seller won't respond to my messages that I've sent him? What do I need to call and how can I make this change?

  • Answer:

You click on Customer Support and in the question box put "cancel transaction" and follow the prompt. Ebay will message the seller and see if he will agree to it. If not you have to buy it. You dont cancel orders on Ebay. It is an auction website with rules different from a shopping site.

You are wasting your time trying to get a return refund from the seller. Put your book back on eBay yourself to sell it, or post it on Craigslist or your local newspaper.

I have a business on Ebay. Technicality, you own the book. It is not the seller's fault that you made a mistake. However, if the seller doesn't ship your item on time or misrepresented the item, you may be covered by "buyer's protection." I haven't been the buyer and used the protection but I do know that Ebay has the ability to refund and then deal with seller. Look for something about buyer perfection.

I am not sure what form of payment you used but sometimes banks will let you do a stop payment on things even if it has already came out of your account. Im sure there is a time limit so if it hasnt been very long call them and see if its an option.
