What country is the last name "Cesin" from?

Hypothesis: most people in most countries, think their country is known by others by ~ the same name. True?

  • And maybe most also think that the names they know other countries by are pretty much the same (or close to the same) that the countries know THEMSELVES by. For example, how many people worldwide, even know what country Deutschland is, even though in that country, that's their own name for their country? Yes, it seems to me that except maybe in cases of countries having very different language systems , with very different or completely different alphabets , if any, and such) -most people worldwide wouldn't very likely even recognize the sound of natives' own name for their countries--and in fact would probably assume, again, that the names are the same or very similar to what "they" happen to call those other countries. I imagine that to most English speakers, the name "Germany" is simply the name of that country, even to "Germans." True that this is probably the usual conclusion? Say "Deutschland" to U.S.A. citizens --even the "better" educated (but not "best" educated I suppose)--and wouldn't you likely tjust get a blank stare? Even though Deutsch ancestry is the most prevalent one here! Or could these kinds of misconceptions possibly be "not" worldwide, at least nearly so much, and be more a United States of America type one? (Of course in general, in fairness it might be necessary to focus here mostly on just the reasonably literate , potenially " informed" populaces of any country). To "N" (first one answering here): so by your theory of what's "stupid", someone from the U.S.A., if they use the term "United States" when they're visiting some other country, is being incredibly "stupid"? By extension, isn't that exactly --EXACTLY-- what you're saying! As well as probably saying, that any one (you say, Who would be so stupid to say) even native there, is being stupid to ever use any country's own name. Beg pardon, but I think what you say, accidentally goes a long way to proving the opposite point--the one I'm trying to make.

  • Answer:

ok, i don't know what you want to tell us, but i think it is common knowledge that countries have in different countries different names. of course you can not know them all. e.g. germany. not only is it called Deutschland in Germany, it is Allemagne in France, Duitsland in the netherlands, 德国 in china and Assholes in Greece (I am not sure about the last one) but that goes with all different names for example the city of Venice is called Venezia in Italy and Venedig in Germany but still i think most people know that even people from the "Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika"(german for U.S.A.)

Who is stupid enough to say deustschland in the US? Not many know that deutschland is germany. It is only stated in their own country. Your theories does not make sense at all. If this is for an essay. Change it.

No way! If you go to someone and "Nihon" no way will they know that's Japan. And the Japanese know it too.
