Need help on foreign exchange programs.

Help with foreign exchange?! please!!:)?

• So basically. Im american and not this year, but the following summer, summer of 2013 I want to be an exchange student. Because then it will be the end of freshman year and will be at the appropriate age to go. So I hardly know anything about this? I really want to travel but I heard you have to sign up like a year in advance?? and how much money do you think it will be. Now I only want to go for like a month. like 2 max!!! I want to go to france mostly, second choice australia or third germany. Do you have any suggestions?? Do i do a program through a highschool? How was your experince?? What do I have to do?? How do I find a host family?? Basically I need to know everything on how to become an exchange student, where to sign up? do I contact my school?! I have been thinking bout this alot? I need help! just what do I do haha? and did you like. which out of my choices do you suggest the most?? what programs are safe and do you reccomend? do I have to sign up now?? thank you so much!
