What is the difference for the handling concerns of concentrated nitric acid and 2M nitric acid?

    Let's put it this way, I've never had a burn from 2M nitric acid but wouldn't like it in my eyes! I put conc nitric almost in the same class as HF and treat it with great care. It attacks skin virtually instantly leaving it yellow (or bright orange if you contract it with ammonia (xanthoproteic test!!). If you don't spot it quickly, burns at the joints of fingers go deep and I've had them crack and bleed. Nasty stuff, treat with great care! If you handle the really concentrated stuff, make by distilling KNO3 and conc H2SO4, often called fuming nitric, this is so potent an oxidising agent that stuff like turpentine ignites spontaneously. Dil nitric acid is no worse than any other common dil lab acid. You can pour it over your hands and provided you wash it off reasonably quickly, there is no harm done.
