What is the octet rule and why is it important in chemical reactions and bonding? PLEASE HELP CANT FIND IT ANY?

Answer:
The octet rule basically says that atoms will bond with other atoms in a way that satisfies is need of 8 valence electrons, because at that point they will become more stable. Because of this, it's very important in bonding. I mean it's a little self explanatory once you understand the octet rule. For example take a look at carbon. It has four valence electrons and if you were to draw its lewis dot structure (look it up if you don't know what I'm talking about), you would see one electron on each side of the carbon. For that reason, carbon is highly reactive where it can bond with almost anything! Because of this, they've made a separate branch of chemistry based on the carbon atom called organic chemistry
