How To Play Minecraft At School Online?

Minecraft club at my school (redstone logic)?

  • My friends and I are trying to set up an after-school club that will teach participants how computer logic works (AND, XAND, OR, etc etc) using the popular game Minecraft and Redstone. We have recently begun to work on the club, and ran into some trouble. Our school's computers use a two-core system (Intel Core 2 Duo) and runs on Windows XP. The computers' processing power isn't much, but it should be enough for a simple flat world (especially if we use the Optifine mod). But, when we got administrative approval to test the game, Minecraft said "Bad video card". After some research, we found that this means the video card isn't compatible. It is a good enough card, but it's something to do with the hardware I guess. Thing is, there is a way to fix this issue, but we need to be able to use the Search bar (which isn't available). To do this, we'd need Admin clearance for everybody who attends the meetings! My question is, do you think it would be easier to have everyone bring in laptops that may or may not work properly, or should we try to get Admin status for our club? Another little problem: In order to run a Multiplayer server, we'd need access to Minecraft.net, but the school firewalls block it. That includes the teachers' accounts as well, and if access was un-blocked, then anybody could play it here! Is there an easier way around this?

  • Answer:

Not sure about the first part, but for the multiplayer, just go to Bukkit.org and download the latest recommended build, or look up a Youtube video for how to set up a Bukkit server. (You won't have to go to Minecraft.net.)
