Isn't english the international language? what is interlingua?
-
i thought english is the international language because as you can see in the world learns english. but if you go to google search settings -> language, you can see a language that is "Interlingua" when i translate this word into my language, it says "international language" i tried this interlingua language and i coudn't know what language is it? it uses alphabet but looks different, i never saw this language before, and google doesn't even support it much, if you use this language on google, there are only "Search Web" and "Search Images", nothing else

Answer:
Interlingua is a constructed language that was created by the International Auxiliary Language Association specifically to be an international language, in order to facilitate communication between disparate groups of people. It's based largely on shared vocabulary between seven main languages (called the "control languages"): Spanish and Portuguese (counted as one language for their purposes, because of their similarity), French, Italian, and English, with German and Russian providing secondary info. Most of the vocabulary is Romance, with Greek and Germanic providing added vocabulary.

Interlingua (not to be confused with interlingue) is only one of the several languages that were designed to become the main, neutral (not giving an advantage to a certain nation) language for international use. most of them never got past a few thousand users. Esperanto is the only one that got to several hundredthousand, maybe even a few million. It's still around and has its own wikipedia.

Esperanto is recognised as an international language; it's man made and purpose-built for being understood across a vast amount of nationalities. English is just commonly and widely spoken, that's all.

It's only possible when all races can forget about their own ethnicity, which could be thousands of years later. It's easy for educated people to learn an international language, but for the illiterate, that's really difficult.
