What is a copyright infringement?

What Naruto Ep's are on dvd? Is it copyright infringement to download what is not on dvd(anime)?

• I had tds notify me that I 'might' have copyright infringement for using torrent but I've seen people argue back and forth that torrent is/n't il/legal. The title is for a series called Naruto Shippuuden. After researching there has only been a handful of dvd volumes. Does anyone know how many episodes are on dvd? And is it legal to download episodes that aren't on dvd? Because to me you can't say one is downloading illegally if the content has no patent rights when its not on a dvd. Okay so I found out that torrent is NOT illegal but if you download copyrighted content then that would be copyright infringement. However, that doesn't answer my question about media since I find it hard to understand why downloading material that doesn't have copyright background before playing the actual media as infringement. It's like saying downloading from Youtube is illegal. I already spent a lot on Anime, prob around a thousand or more, and the Anime industry is always booming and I'm still buying products. I need to know whether downloading anime that's not even copyrighted is legal or not. And even if it is, why would it matter when the dvd's aren't even released, its like taking down video clips and music videos of media.   Its not legal to download them period, regardless if it is on DVD or not. And I think it goes up to episode 112 on DVD right now, with 113-126 coming out in April
