Why do Xbox 360 users use the PSN getting hacked as a negative point against PS3? (Please read explanation)?
-
I'm a PS3 user, and I personally think that the PS3 (and all of the other PlayStation consoles) are better than the Xbox consoles. I always find myself getting into arguments with Xbox users about which console is better, even though I don't really care about which one people think is better. It usually starts with someone asking me which I think is better, and then when I say I prefer the PS3 they go all crazy at me and I have to defend my opinion. But anyway, when the PlayStation Network was hacked last year, many Xbox users started using that as an excuse to make more criticisms about the PS3, saying things like "The PS3 is a piece of crap and so is the PSN. You may have to pay money for Xbox Live but at least it doesn't get hacked into!". So my question is, why do they do this? The Xbox Live Network (or whatever it's called) has been hacked into several times in the past and was hacked just recently, so how does it make Xbox any better when the PSN has only been hacked once? Also, which console do you prefer, and for what reasons? PS3 or Xbox 360? If I'm wrong about anything I've said, I'm sorry, but I have done a bit of research and this is the general understanding I have of all of this.. Thanks in advance for your answers! I'll choose a best answer and give 10 points to the best one.. xD

All right I have to leave my two-cents here because I think you may get some insight out of what I have to say on this matter. Let me know what you think. P.S. I ain't tryin to make this sound like people that get their accounts hacked are just whiners, it can be a very scary big problem especially when credit card numbers are involved and I believe these people have good reasons to dislike whatever service that got them into this mess. But, most of the whiners I've ever seen haven't actually gotten their account hacked and then been inconvenienced in any way because of it. Not to bash Apple or anything because they do make quality goods, but... To answer your question, it's the same reason that so many Apple fan-boys think that any MAC is better than any Windows pc. They are just crazed and confused fan-boys that don't know how to appreciate two different brands of the same kind of thing. They can't actually stand the fact that some people prefer PS3 and cannot think of a good reason to talk badly about PS3/PSN so they go to the most irrelevant reason as to why one is better than the other. If I just change your criticism quote a little... "The WINDOWS is a piece of crap and so is the WINDOWS. You may have to pay MORE money for MAC but at least it doesn't get VIRUSES!". That's 90% of what I hear from Macbook users when I ask why they didn't just buy a cheaper Windows laptop. I mean there are better reasons to buy a Macbook rather than a Windows laptop but I keep getting THAT reason. I am very tired while writing this and I am probably telling myself that you will understand all of the implications I am making and not take what I say the wrong way. It's just people trying to start arguments with bad premises. I like PS3 because of the selection of RPGs it has to offer and the PS3 exclusive titles it has. I like Xbox 360 because most of my friends play online with it. I like them both. Anyway, before I get offtopic, I'll leave on this note. Children gonna be childish.

have you ever been hacked? probably not because if you got hacked, you have no idea how inconvenient your life becomes. my 360 account was hacked, and I got charged 50 dollars for ms points. the attempt at 100 dollars failed so he tried 50 and it worked even though ms caught the 100 but let the 50 slide. i had to call ms to get my refund, and it only came after a month of investigation i had to change my password for everything because i used the same name and password for everything. i suspect the psn hack led to the xbl hack because if the same name and password. i had to call the bank to let them know that i got charged for something i didn't buy. now i have a bunch of passwords that i need to remember but can't so i've been using password recovery quite a lot. i also have to pay closer attention to my monthly bank statement to make sure there are no unauthorized charges. instead of just putting my debit number for purchases, i've resorted to buying point cards if i want to buy something from psn or itunes. thanks to psn, i've become paranoid about every transactions i make.

"You may have to pay money for Xbox Live but at least it doesn't get hacked into!". FALSE. It was hacked into even before the Playstation Network. Fortunately it had better security and no giant issue was made out of it. Also, u will notice that Microsoft made sure they got back into the good graces of the REAL hackers...who it is VERY unwise to annoy. But all of those online services, Steam, Jagex (who was investigate for credit card fraud in the UK), Blizzard, etc etc. are vulnerable to hacking. Depending on how good their security and encryption are private info may or may not be leaked. I don't use any of those services (with my real info), and I never will. As for the consoles. Both of them are antiquated when it comes to modern computing. Try playing a recent game on a PC 6 years old and u see the problem. I wouldn't even consider getting either Xbox360 or PS3. I guess I'm spoilt by the superior performance and graphics of a computer.

You could always just mind your business and do what you want without thinking about others opinions. But apparently you need to make it your business.
