Are there any free movie making programs similar to Windows Movie Maker?

I love to make movies, what are some good movie making programs?

  • Answer:

Well, Katelyn, there are a whole bunch of video editing software out there and they are all very different. Windows Movie Maker is very basic and can be mastered in a short time, however, anything more advanced will take dedication, practice, and learning which is why you want to check some tutorial videos on youtube and do research on the video editing software before you shell out the cash to buy some. Some video editing software can cost up to 1000 dollars! It all depends on what kind of films you like to make. Here are some of the more advanced ones: Pinnacle Studios Final Cut Pro Sony Vegas Adobe Premiere Avid Pinnacle Studios is the cheapest I think. It comes with a device called Dazzle which is a capturing device that is mostly used to record gameplay footage off a video games or take footage from a VHS onto your computer. If Dazzle does not interest you, and you only want Pinnacle Studios, check Amazon. The others I mentioned are more expensive. Final Cut Pro and Sony Vegas are about 180-300 dollars while Adobe Premiere and Avid are around 500-upwards to 1000 dollars. It's all very costly. If you are fine with Windows Movie Maker, stick with that because it is always going to be free. Macs come with iMovie which is a bit better than Windows Movie Maker (more options). Again, it all depends on what kind of films you make. If you are a student film maker and need to use special effects, then Adobe products are recommended, but if you're just a vlogger on youtube, there shouldn't be a big reason to stop using Windows Movie Maker.
