I need help understanding crocheting instructions?

  • I am attempting to make an afghan. I understand Row 1 below perfectly. However, Row 2 has thrown me for a loop (pardon the pun). Help? Row 1: 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, * sk 3 chs, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch; rep from * across to last 4 chs, sk 3 chs, sc in last ch; ch 3, turn Row 2: 3 dc in base of ch, * sc under ch-3, ch 3, 3 dc under same ch-3; rep from * across, ending by working a sc in turning ch; ch 2, turn

Most patterns would refer to it as ch-3 space. so "sc under ch-3" means work a sc by inserting your hook into the space under the next 3 chain. You then chain 3 and work 3dc into the same ch-3 space. Repeat the instructions from the * mark to the end of the row then work a sc in the turning chain. Chain 2 and turn.
