What makes science better music?
-
I'm doing a debate about which talent (in my school we get in by talent) is better, strings talent (that would be things like violin, cello, viola, etc.) or science talent. I'm rooting for science talent and I need to think of another way that science talent is better than strings. Please don't use the following: 1) There are less people in science talent than in strings which means that the science talent test was harder. 2) Music doesn't help you in life.

Answer:
It's one of those questions where there isn't a "right answer" as both Music and Science are important and of benefit to people. But they want you all to exercise and thus improve your debating skills, I think. But as you are arguing for Science there are many positive points: 1) without Science our health would be not so good, as we would not have medicines and pills, and all those great benefits. 2) without Science, musical recordings, whether on iPods, Computers, Compact Disc or older media such as tapes and LPs would not be possible. They had to understand Science to learn how to make recordings. There would only be live recordings, and so most people would not get to hear good music. 3) without Science we wouldn't have transport such as cars, motorbikes, bicycles, ships, airplanes. 4) without Science we wouldn't have electronics, as that depends on Science You could also argue 5) There are also fewer well paid jobs in music (there are many of course, especially if you are excellent, but I think there are a lot more in Science)
