What does it take to be a civil engineer?

What classes should I take in High school to become a Civil Engineer?

• I want to go into the more public part of civil engineering; I don't want to work with private clients. So I am in grade 8 right now, and we just had the High School come give us a presentation today and I'm wondering what courses would benefit me in the path of Civil Engineering. I have fairly high mark, on first class honors, average in my core classes (language, social, math, science) at about 95%. My math mark last term was 96% the term before was 92%, but last year i managed to get 100% in one of my terms and on my final exam. my science mark is good to. 97% the most recent term, and 98% the term before. I also got 100% on my final exam last year. I know that I am going to have to take all of my maths, but what else should i take? PS; I'm a girl.

  My high school has an environmental design class so you should ask a counselor to see if your school offers a class like that.
