How To Book Movie Tickets?

Hunger Games movie? Why are people obsessed and going crazy?

  • It seems like I am the only one not going to see the midnight premier of Hunger Games. I am a 19 year guy, so maybe it's my age group, I don't know. Why is everyone going so crazy? I understand that it's a popular and decent book series, but come on people, it's not going to be an Academy Award winner of Sundance Film Festival winner. Ugh, I'm really into film, and I see it as an art and whatnot, so it just frustrates me when I see all these teenagers flocking to see this film they see as "the best film of 2012". Great book? Maybe, I haven't read it. Award winning movie? No. And I feel like everyone has this mentality that it's going to be. All my friend's on Facebook are like "OMG, got my MIDNIGHT PREMIER tickets! OMG!" Kings Speech, Crash, Act Of Valor, Drive.....check out those movies. That's some real film and art. I'm not trying to talk down the Hunger Games series, I'm just trying to say that this isn't the movie of all movies. I do movie reviews so I'm going to be stuck seeing it, probably this weekend. Does this movie just portray the first book of the series? I plan on reading the series, so I hope the movie doesn't spoil the books. But geez, get a grip people.

  • Answer:

No offense, but you absolutely NO ROOM to talk UNTIL you've actually seen it.... I haven't seen it yet myself, so I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but don't jump the gun. Every movie should be given a fair chance and YOU, especially, should know that, since you do movie reviews. Also, I wouldn't want to read a movie review from someone who said, "so I'm going to be stuck seeing it." Way to be unbaised there! The movie is based on the book, so OBVIOUSLY seeing the movie first is going to spoil the book.... I'm not trying to be mean, but you're very ignorant. You haven't even read the book OR seen the movie and you're already telling people how it's not that great. Who cares if teenagers flock to movie? They like it. Is that a crime? I probably said this three times, but HOW DO YOU KNOW "it's not going to be an Academy Award winner of Sundance Film Festival winner"? Keep in mind, I'm NOT saying that it will win awards because I haven't seen it. It really fustrates me how people like you judge movies based on their fanbase/ popularity WHEN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN IT. And, I think you're the one who should get a grip :-)

Well no need to hate, it's just that the books have a lot of fans. The plot is unique and it was a page turner. That's just my opinion. I really like the Hunger Games and even though I know it won't get any awards, that doesn't matter to me. But I'm not going to see it tonight, there will be too many people.

I say that most of the people going to see it are genuinely excited about the movie-- mostly because they read the books. Others just jumped on the bandwagon. A 19 year old kid talking about how films are 'art' and saying that kids shouldn't go into the movie with high expectations-- that's funny to me. You're a kid yourself, enjoy the movie- you'll be ashamed at how much you like it in the end... Pssh... "stuck" seeing it? Must be hard ;) ps- it is only the first bookbeing portrayed.

Go to imdb.com and read some of the reviews. You can tell that most of them are written by teenagers. You can also tell that the producers and directors had no intention of creating any real art, just a reality show a la survivor turned into an action film. This has been done already many times before.

I'm not excite to see it either but for all we know it could be one I the est movies of 2012! I know fans of the book (including my girlfriend) were begin excited. She wanted me to go last night but I couldnt lol. I do agree a large amount of kids are jat jumping on the bandwagon though.

I agree man, it is not going to get any awards and these teens don't have good taste in anything anymore. Hugo, The Artist, Inception, The Lord Of the Rings trilogy, Million Dollar Baby, Moneyball, and the ones you mentioned are all real cinematic art. These teens need to calm down with this nonsense. I am a 19 yr old guy too.

That's exactly how I think of this Hunger Games madness. Its crazy. Even though I only read the first couple pages, I feel like it's not worth being obsessed over. I'm talking about the books and the movie.

Most of the people read the book at school and decided to continue reading, it's a really good book and it's something new, that's why everyone is so excited (including me) Hope I helped(:

I saw little kids flock too, lining up around 5 or 6 already. Hunger games movie portrays the first book only and lasts for 2 hours. I recommend you read it before you see it since it ruins your image of the characters. In my opinion, I didn't like the actors, but I can sorta tell the movie will be good. People like it because, well, it's different from other boring girl books. All we get is some cheesy romance like twilight, blech. I think it's a nice change, and plus, guys read it too, which doubles the popularity. The book is a bit slow-going at first, my sister dropped it when she read 50 pages and I was horrified. Well, the author does explain a lot of stuff. People like it because it has a good plot, different from Twilight (which a lot of authors are using as their role-models, whenever I go to the bookstore, there's a whole separate section for paranormal romances.) I guess you'll understand when you read it. You might be disappointed at 2nd and 3rd a bit... other than that, great book!

I'm your age, and I talk to a girl who's about 15 or 16. She mentioned The Hunger Games last night, that was the first time I've ever heard of it, she also told me how all her friends (who are also about the same age as her) are planning to see the movie tomorrow. And that's how I know it's going to be a horrible movie for my taste. Yeah, the age group does speak volumes. And oh, this lady here, Catherine W, seems pretty annoying.
