President Jimmy Carter arranged the Camp David Accords which led to the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. A failure oocurred in the Middle East during the Iran Hostage Crisis when militants took over the American Embassy in Tehran in support of the Iranian Revolution.President Carter called the hostages "victims of terrorism and anarchy."
