What is the role of adsorbent in pollution abatement?
-
-
Answer:
Adsorbents can be used in both air and water pollution control. In water pollution they are principally used in the collection of trace oil slicks from surface waters as a polishing step in cleaning up oil spills. Absorbents can also be used in heavier oil slicks to hold the oil on the surface as it is being vacuumed up. In air pollution absorbents can be used to remove traces of gases or hydrocarbons from air flows in small treatment systems (air intakes over gluing tables etc.) or in air filtration masks to prevent workers from inhaling gases or vapours.
