How can I open a vcf file?

Exporting records into VCF (techtor, easterangel)

  • …A special thanks to techtor and easterangel for their quality work. Is there a simple software that can transfer records from MS Office application to export them in a Virtual Card File (VCF) format? I am looking for a software that can take data from an MS XL, Outlook, or even a text file; and transfer all the records inside this file into VCF’s.

Thank you for accepting my proposal to answer, and I've had a good Holiday myself :). I’ll list the software closest to your requirements first. Vcard Converter for Outlook 2000/2002 by Sperry Software http://www.sperrysoftware.com/vcardconverter.asp - This is an add-on program for Outlook (not Outlook express), and I’m not sure if it’s for the PDA or the desktop PC. It costs less than $10. WAB2vCard – PDA Synchronization Software at TUCOWs http://pda.tucows.com/epoc/preview/68366.html - A program that converts the Windows Address Book (which Outlook and Outlook Express use) into a single .VCF file. I think it’s for the PDA though (which would include the Palm). This is a demo version available at Tucows. I couldn’t determine the actual price, though. And I could download it on my Win98 PC. Dawn, the Address Converter and Manager – made by Boris Zakharin http://www.joshie.com/projects/dawn/ - Here’s a free program that converts address book files of various types into other types, but it does not do batch processing of many address book entries into one big file. Or at least I haven’t tried the latest version. Outpod Homepage http://outpod.stoer.de/ - Outpod is an address book conversion program that runs on the PC, but I think it is meant to export to the iPod. It did run on my Win98 PC though when I tried it. iPodlounge – All things iPod (note Toe2Pod near the last entry; that’s an outlook to VCF converter according to the description) http://ipodlounge.com/downloads_osx_03.asp OTHER SOFTWARE Convert Doc by Softinterface http://www.softinterface.com/Convert-Doc/Convert-Doc-349.htm - Here’s the $350 software that converts many types of file formats... DOC, HTM, RTF, PDF, etc. Even vCard, CSV and other address books programs are handled by this. Slipstick Systems – Converting Addresses page http://www.slipstick.com/config/convaddr.htm - Here’s a list of various software that handle address book programs and content. I suppose almost everything under the sun on address books is listed here. SOME OTHER GENERAL PAGES ON CONVERSION PDA Data Conversion at File Save As http://www.filesaveas.com/pdaconvert.html - This is a list of programs listing data conversion software for PDAs. It involves more than just Address Book places. Outlook Express to Vcard saving page http://homepage.mac.com/phrogz/OE2vCard.html - Here’s a form page to copy and paste OE info into vCard info. There’s a ‘convert’ button, so I think you’re meant to do this online. Convert Yahoo CSV files to iPod VCF files! https://panel.dreamhost.com/keywords/vcf/ - Another form page with a ‘convert’ button, allowing you to do conversion on this page. I haven’t tested this or the previous one though. VCF Files by Pack Stith, Pack Enterprises http://www.packent.com/nimitz78/vcf_files.htm - A general article on VCF files. Search strategy using Google: ms outlook vcf file convert ms outlook file export vcf outlook express address book convert vcf software address book extractor software windows address book converter/conversion vcf/vcard I hope this provides you with what you were looking for.
