Why does my monitor keep turning off?

Monitor keeps turning on & off on its own

  • I have a Dell Dimension E510. The video card is an Intel. I started recently loosing my monitor. The monitor will begin just turning on and off by itself. When it turns off, I unplug the power cord from the monitor and plug it back in and it usually comes back on, then it will turn off. I noticed in my device settings that i have two listed intels listed. I try to disable then uninstall one of them, but it will come back and the same problem begins again. I have tried updating the driver and no newer drivers avilb. I even tried putting in a pci video card and using that, had same problem....

  • Answer:

I'm guessing the problem lies with the monitor itself, not the computer hardware, have you tried with another monitor? As far as displaying two Intel devices, its likely Intel's multi-head implementation (it shows as two graphics adapters, regardless of if both outputs are enabled, either that, or you're looking at something unrelated to the graphics adapter (such as the chipset, MCH, etc (as Intel probably provided 80% of the core logic for that board)). -bob
