Answer:
Hi there, Firstly just a couple of points: - Google Answers Researchers have no contact with the search engine side of things. We don't have any inside information regarding the listing, de-listing and ranking of sites. - Although Google has published some guidelines for webmasters, they are open to interpretation. Any answers to queries like yours can only be educated opinions, based on personal experience and the thoughts of others online. Okay, obviously this is a serious situation, as for many sites most of their traffic arrives via Google. Here's the possible reasons for being removed, in my order of likelihood. Then I'll mention remedies. Reciprocal Linking ---------------- When I answer queries like yours, usually the sites involved have attempted to artificially inflate their link popularity by using link farms or reciprocal linking. Google's guidelines state: Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html Fiction: Joining a link exchange or "free-for-all" link program will boost my rankings. Fact: Linking schemes do not increase a given site's PageRank, and will often do a site more harm than good. ://www.google.com/webmasters/facts.html On your sites I find that not only are you asking for reciprocal links, but stating "Remember that link popularity is key to the search engines now in days!" http://www.mlb-betting.com/cgi-bin/lspro/lspro.cgi?request=new http://www.online-boxing-results.com/cgi-bin/lspro/lspro.cgi?request=new I beleive that this level of reciprocal linking is your number one problem: ://www.google.com/search?q=link:http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eoffshore%2Dgambling%2Dodds%2Ecom%2F Guilt by Association ------------------- Marketing By Net International http://marketingbynetint.com/home.html Either this company is the owner of your sites, or they have been hired by you to improve search engine results (as experts in the search engine optimization business, they should be able to tell you what went wrong...). They seem to be behind an extensive network of web sites, many of which have a sole purpose of flooding search engine results, and earning income through advertising. I'm sure that they are behind many more gambling-related sites than are listed on this page: http://www.marketingbynetint.com/partner_sites/partnersites.htm A thread from WebMasterWorld: GG has already told us that whois data is being looked at. Remember this reply, "the site in your profile looks fine, but your company seems to be associated with a bunch of online casino domains too". The only place that knowledge could have come from is a whois database. The number of links and a common "C" tripped a filter. We are seeing alot more than over optimisation being used to ban sites and or whole networks. http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum10003/2838.htm Another thread: I have about a bazillion sites which cover a multitude of topics. As mentioned in another recent threads, the network I operate also runs a number of online casino directories. I'd like to bounce something here, if I may. Each online casino directory was created to target a different search phrase - to get as extensive a coverage as possible. These were cross-linked and so most have been hit with a pr0 penalty. Income has dived as a result - seriously, and the effect that actual existance of the sites is in question. We were not aware at the time, as were anyone else it seems, that cross-linking was an issue. It's prety damn clear that it is now. http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum10003/2678.htm Original Content --------------- Google say that you should "Create a useful, information-rich site and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content." And "Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content." ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html I am quite sure that Google looks for duplicated content and penalises sites that do so, in conjunction with other bad practices (ie occasional duplicated content on its own isn't too bad). There is some content repeated amongst your sites: http://www.online-boxing-results.com/boxing_sportbooks.htm http://www.mlb-betting.com/sportsbook-reviews.htm http://www.nfl-sports-betting.com/endorsed_sportsbooks.htm http://www.basketball-gambling-online.com/wheretobet.htm http://www.soccer-gambling-online.com/sportsbook-reviews.htm http://www.offshore-gambling-odds.com/sportsbook_reviews.htm Visiting your sites, although each is different, they seem to be very similar, and I presume other content or HTML code is duplicated. Web Position Gold ----------------- This is not widely known, but Google does not want their servers to be bogged down by automated queries. Using such programs can get your site banned: Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google. ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html Other Possible Reasons ---------------------- From Google: 1. Your site may not have been reachable when we tried to crawl it because of network or hosting problems. When this happens, we retry multiple times, but if the site cannot be crawled, it will not be listed in our current index. If it was a transient problem, your site will likely show up in the next index, which will be completed in a few weeks. 2. A technical glitch on our side may have caused us to 'miss' your site. In crawling more than 3 billion pages every few weeks, our system experiences hiccups from time to time. Again, this is a transient problem, and your site will likely show up in the next index. Please be patient with us during this period, as we are not able to modify our index by hand to add sites missed in this way. ://www.google.com/webmasters/2.html Remedies --------- Also, directly quoted from Google: Your page was manually removed from our index, because it did not conform with the quality standards necessary to assign accurate PageRank. We will not comment on the individual reasons a page was removed and we do not offer an exhaustive list of practices that can cause removal. However, certain actions such as cloaking, writing text that can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines may result in permanent removal from our index. If you think your site may fall into this category, you might try 'cleaning up' the page and sending a re-inclusion request to [email protected]. We do not make any guarantees about if or when we will re-include your site. ://www.google.com/webmasters/2.html You might also want to post a question at WebMasterWorld in the Google section (free and easy registration is required). Don't link to your sites, just describe them. http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/ An active member of the forum is GoogleGuy, who is a Google employee, often gives semi-official answers to questions like yours. Read this entire thread. Although they look at casino sites, you can count your sites as being of the same genre: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2578.htm Search strategy: personal experience, searching WebMasterWorld and Google's webmaster guidelines Best wishes, robertskelton-ga
