Windows ME: How to delete (uninstall) a Security Certificate (used for e-mail)

• Would like some links on instructions on how to delete or uninstall a (email) Security Certificate on a Windows ME machine. While trying to configure a new server, we installed a security certificate on the server and my client has downloaded it to my client. We had some problems and reinstalled the server security certificate (using a different certificate). Now, each time I log on to check e-mail, my client (Outlook Express) 'balks' that "The Certificate's CN name does not match the passed value." I'd like to get rid of the current certificate on my machine, so next time I log on, the new server certificate can be passed to my client. Email server: POP3 using SSL

  Dear Respree, I know from experience that Outlook Express can be a pain sometimes but it generally gets the job done when it comes to email. Your old certificate sounds like one of those pains. Hopefully, this information can allow you to rid yourself of this problematic email certificate. You can remove individual certificates in OE by clicking on: 1. Tools 2. Options 3. Security 4. Digital ID's This is the OE email certificate editor/viewer. Now in the tabs that say Personal, Other People, Intermediate Certification Authorities, and Trusted Root Certification Authorities, look for your certificate (whatever its called on the server). Press the Remove button to remove that certificate. Your problem certificate will be in one of the tabs; if it is not in the first then try the next and look for certificate. After you have removed the certificate, you might try closing and restarting OE and see if you are prompted again. (If you are still prompted try restarting the computer because any changes made in microsoft often need a restart to enforce the change). This is a bit cumbersome, though it may be an alternate solution. Of note, is the backup section so you can be sure you don't lose any of your emails. The above should alleviate the problem you are experiencing.
