How can I import an HTML template to Thunderbird?

convert links to OPML for Typepad

  • What is the most efficient way to convert HTML links to OPML. My blog(Typepad)asks you to submit individual links when building a link list OR import an OPML list. I have put together a substantial list of favorites over the years, and wish to sharethem on my blog. (Yes, I'm sure there's a way to do the samething by manually manipulating the typepad template HTML, but I'm no code jockey)

Hello billyjoemcallister-ga, As you have not indicated what operating system you are using for this answer I have assumed you are using Windows and your HTML links are stored in Internet Explorer Favorites. Should this not be the case please ask for clarification and I will find an alternative solution for you (please remember to state what operating system you are using and the format of the links). Now to answer your question, the most simple way to convert your Favorites to OPML is to use the program found on the following page: http://weblogs.asp.net/lhunt/archive/2004/01/20/60911.aspx I have just tested this program on my Windows XP machine and it compiled an OPML list of over 1000 links in a matter of seconds and it could not have been easier to use. Once you have downloaded the zip file, simply open the zip and extract the FavoritesToOPML.exe file to your desktop. It is then a matter of running the program, pressing Export and telling it where to save the OPML file. One small caveat with using this program is that you must have the Microsoft .net Framework installed. There is a link to how you can do this on the above page or it can be installed via a Windows Update (from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com). Additional methods of exporting your Favorites to OPML can be found by a few quick searches on Google: ://www.google.com/search?q=%22bookmarks+to+opml%22 ://www.google.com/search?q=%22favorites+to+opml%22 ://www.google.com/search?q=%22links+to+opml%22 There are one or two perl scripts that do what you require but these require you to have a little more code jockey experience ;-) If none of these solutions suit the bill, you could post the links here in a list and I can convert them to OPML for you. If you require any further assistance on this matter please ask for clarification and I will do my best to assist you promptly.
