Leg pain/locking up knee?

knee/leg pain

  • My dr. says I have infra patellar tendonitis.  I was very active, jogging, spinning etc.  But I also have a large bump below my knee which is where my pain is.  I lessened my physical activity to only low impact.  But my doctor says no running even after it heals.  Is the bump Osgood schlatter.  I am 39 yrs.  The pain is when I kneel or bend the knee or after running the entire leg hurts, ankle too.

  • Answer:

Hi Debra, The bump my be Osgood-Schlatter's. This, however, isn't something that came about from your current activity. By definition, OS is a disease of incomplete skeletal maturity. That only happens to kids below the age of 15. The locale of your current pain may truly be inflammation of the Patellar ligament (incorrectly designated as a tendon). Treatment is rest, anti-inflammatories and ice or heat. The real problem here is that you may have exceeded your body's ability to endure that exercise level.
