Is an associates degree in nursing enough to be an RN?

Nursing

  • Hello,    I am starting school this fall for nursing and I was wondering what the difference in job opportunities were for a RN with an associates degree vs. a bachelors. Basically I am debating on which one I would like to go for.                                     Thank You.                                      Samantha

  • Answer:

Hello Samantha, Congrats on starting your nursing career! It really depends on what type of nursing you want to persue. And what type of facility you want to work in. Most hospitals recognize a BS and encourage staff to further their education. Some facilities have a different pay scale for a BSN. You would want to find out from your states board of nursing to see which would be more beneficial to you and your career. If you plan on advancing to a masters level then you would want to have a BSN. I hope that which ever you choose to do, that you will be sucessful and find it rewarding for you! Good luck!
