What do you Pack for a month long stay?

What to pack for a 6-month stay in Brazil?

  • I'll be traveling the 21st of January, 2009 and I am struggling to decide how much to pack. My main stay will be in Anápolis, Goiás (near Goiânia) and I know it's summery almost year-round, but I'll also be traveling around the country and I'll end my trip in Chile during the very cold winter season. So, I'm trying to keep a light load but seems relatively impossible for a 6-month period. Any suggestions? Also, I have a tourist visa that I received in 2006, valid for 5 years. Do I need to do anything else to reinstate the visa or am I set? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

Figure 7 days worth of summer/spring clothes (70 to 90 degree weather) and five days of thin sweaters for Chile and cooler nights (35 to 60). And one winter coat if youre going to be in Chile. tho if I were you, id just buy the coat in Chile; why pack a huge thick winter coat for June, July Chilean weather? Your tourist visa is all set. You will need to visit a Federal Police post in Brazil after when approaching your third month and ask for a three month extension. The visa is good for three months only and extendable for three months. Ken
