MIcrosoft Reader (LIT) files working on PalmOS handhelds

How can I get Microsoft Reader files (in *.LIT) format to work on a PalmOS handheld -- with all formatting retained?

Answer:
Hi Guterman, In short, Microsoft does not plan on releasing Microsoft Reader for other operating systems. Heres a posting from the Microsoft Reader FAQ: "Will there be versions of Microsoft Reader for the Macintosh, Palm, or Linux operating systems? We have not announced plans to develop versions of Microsoft Reader for other platforms at this time." Microsoft Reader FAQ Page http://www.microsoft.com/reader/general_faq.asp#8 Since Microsoft has a competing version of the Palm Pilot, the Pocket PC, its highly unlikely that it will release or have third parties create a version that is supported by the Palm Pilot operating system. However, when reading from some of the newsgroups (comp.sys.palmtops.pilot) on this subject, there were some suggested solutions and/or scripts that you can try. A possible solution is taking the Microsoft Reader file and translating it into text, then placing it into Palm Reader (or whatever software you prefer). Most likely, you will lose the formatting that was in the original .lit documents. In the following newsgroup thread, Dave Z suggested using tecnodudes scripts that are found here: Tecnodudes Page How to convert .lit files into text http://tecnodude.tripod.com/ Taken from Microsoft Reader for Palm Thread On newsgroup: alt.comp.sys.palmtops.pilot Posted 8/13/01 http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&threadm=a39gnt4aec0onf7gf46o7o6f11aquegfh8%404ax.com&rnum=3&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dmicrosoft%2Breader%2Bpalm%2Bos%26hl%3Den%26selm%3Da39gnt4aec0onf7gf46o7o6f11aquegfh8%25404ax.com%26rnum%3D3 A similar solution was given by Gordon Walker. Instead of using tecnodudes software, however, he suggested copying and pasting each page of the book (if it isnt protected). After each page is copied, it would be pasted into Palm Reader (or software equivalent).
