Top 20 stroke rehabilitation centers in the US
-
I need to know the top 20 or more stroke rehabilitation centers in the US. I would like to know about some of the statistics of these institutions...like the number of patients...or some reason why they were chosen. (Of course I also need the address and the phone.....and maybe the names of who are in charge because we need to pick one). I want them to be the ones that treat alot of patients. If you have a list with more than that on it, that is OK....but I need to have statistics of the places. I do not need to know the hospitals that treat stroke, like with neurosurgeons...but need to know the hospitals (or centers) that are the biggest for the rehabilitation AFTER the stroke. Can someone PLEASE help!!! You can ask me any questions and I will give you the best answers that I have.

Answer:
Hello crystal4290-ga, According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes, ?Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of long-term disability in the U.S. There are approximately 4 million Americans living with the effects of stroke. In addition, there are millions of husbands, wives, children and friends who care for stroke survivors and whose own lives are personally affected. ? My research revealed that although this is a very common disease the treatment and rehabilitation is very individualistic and requires a is tailored rehabilitation program. Fortunately, there is lots of information available to help you understand the issues involved, the likely progress of treatment, rehabilitation and recovery and criteria to use to evaluate specific programs. I?ve included a collection of links to help you with these issues. As you requested, I?ve also found a reputable survey for ranking the top rehabilitation hospitals. The ranking criteria are clearly defined in the survey description and are noted for the profile of each institution rated. The ranking report provides each hospital?s address, ranking and link to the hospital?s rehabilitation program web page. From there you can explore each program and use their contact information links to continue your explorations. I hope that you find this information helpful. Please don?t hesitate to ask for clarification if any of this is confusing. Best wishes for finding a rehabilitation program that will serve your needs. ~ czh ~ ========================================= STROKE REHABILITATION ? Those criteria screened out all but 2,072 of the 6,003 hospitals. The four other specialties (eyes, pediatrics, psychiatry, and rehabilitation) were treated differently. This is because mortality data are unavailable in pediatrics and are largely irrelevant in eyes, psychiatry, and rehabilitation. So hospitals in these specialties are ranked solely on reputation. ------------------------------------------------- http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/hosptl/directory/hosp_6431012.htm Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago 345 East Superior Street Chicago, IL 60611 Web site: http://www.rehabchicago.org/ U.S. News Ranking: 1 in Rehabilitation http://www.ric.org/ Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago http://www.ric.org/patient/services/stroke.php Stroke One of the most vital aspects of quality of life is independence: the ability to function physically, think clearly, fulfill responsibilities and enjoy family and friends.
