Howdy Mike, Serenata suggested I should Answer your Question. Much thanks to Serenata for all of the work put into this one. As Serenata alluded to, we are independent contractors for Answers, and have no inside knowledge of the Google search engine, etc. and only they know ultimately why your site appears to have been banned. I am a former owner/operator of a web hosting company, and have had too much experience with exactly your situation. You might not be happy with the following, but it is just the reality of the situation. That said, and repeated from above for emphasis, from the Google Guidelines: ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html "Quality Guidelines - Specific recommendations: ... - Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content." WebProNews covers this subject quite well in their "Using Multiple Domains With Duplicate Content" article. You should read the complete article for more good advice. http://www.webpronews.com/ebusiness/seo/wpn-4-20030311UsingMultipleDomainsWithDuplicateContent.html "Changing domains is a bad idea, and so is using multiple domains with duplicate content. This is a ticking time bomb right now for this client. ... Using multiple domains, with identical content, to link to one domain, is usually considered 'spam' by Google and other search engines. Google will penalize duplicate content, as will other search engines, and if they consider the problem to be very large, they may even 'ban' all of these domains. ... If you have multiple domains, they should all redirect to the same domain, either through a DNS entry, or by having the server return a '301 Moved Permanently' status code." Let's look at this from the search engine viewpoint. They want the searcher to get good, relevant content (results to their search) with value. If the searcher gets several pages that are essentially the same page that is repeated several times, they feel they haven't received those results. So, in this sense, you are actually doing yourself more harm than good, even outside from the very real chance that you get banned from search engines. Do yourself a big favor and have your DNS (Domain Name Server/System) set so all of your domain names point to just one domain. Pick the best domain name that you have, and make that your only site, and then concentrate on making that the best site you can. Promote and expand that web site. Follow the guidelines provided by the search engines. Bring all of your product categories to the main page; don't hide the pitching machines two levels down, etc. Don't use "tricks" such as keyword stuffing. After some time, you can phase out all of the extraneous domain names and save yourself some money as well. If you provide a quality web site, people will like it, sites will link to it because it is of quality, and search engines will treat it well. I have a site that has a 7/10 rank by doing just these things. I like the following domain name of yours, and it is appears to rank as well as any of your sites. http://www.allbaseballbats.com/ You could also start fresh on a new site, avoiding the duplication of your current sites, and point everything to it as well. The following domain name is available, for instance: http://www.nothingbutbats.com That would mean starting from scratch, and probably should only be done if you can't point all of the domain names to one site as quickly as you should. If we could find this duplicate content so easily, it is only a matter of time before the rest of your sites are discovered, with possibly the same results, or worse. The bottom line is that you need to resolve this as soon as possible. You might want to do the below search on Google for all sorts of links to discussions about other things you should do, such as making sure links to your current sites get updated to reflect whatever changes you make. If you need any clarification, feel free to ask. Search Strategy: Personal experience as a former ISP owner.
