Answer:
yehoshua... MSN Groups that have shown no activity for 30 days are subject to removal. Usually you'll receive a warning email indicating this, and offering you the option of recovering the site. If there is any chance at all of restoring the site, it will be by entering the following URL into your browser and hitting Enter: http://groups.msn.com/YourGroupName/_activate.msnw Be sure to include any underscores or any other unique characters that were present in your original group name: http://groups.msn.com/Your_Group_Name/_activate.msnw If you subsequently receive the message: "Hmmm, We Can't Find that Page... The page you're looking for might have been moved or deleted. Or, perhaps the Web address is misspelled?" ...then you're pretty much out of luck unless you took the precaution of backing up the content somewhere on your hard drive. I looked all over MSN's Groups Help, and found nothing there or via Google searches that gave any indication that it is possible to have MSN restore your Group. If it is possible at all, I would try using the contact links on the following page: http://groups.msn.com/feedback.msnw However, one slim possibility is that MSN, for reasons unknown, has made a mirror of your site in another location. I know, as this has happened to me. So you might try adding your group name to the following URL to see if it comes up: http://www.communities.ninemsn.com.au/YourGroupName/ If such a mirror exists, it should contain all the content of the original. One final option is to try to find a Google cache of your site pages. This would use a URL such as: http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:groups.msn.com/YourGroupName/ ...or http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:www.communities.ninemsn.com.au/YourGroupName To create a javascripted bookmark that allows you to view Google's cache (if available) for any page on which your browser is stationed (even if it didn't load), make a bookmark named 'Google cache', and paste the following into the URL area: javascript:document.location.href='://www.google.com/search?q=cache:'+document.location.href.replace(/http:\/\//,'') If that ends up being wrapped in this interface, make sure it's all on one line when you paste it into the bookmark. Keep in mind that cached pages will probably not give you access to images or files which were linked from the site. Only the text on the pages will be available. I hope one of the above options works for you. If not, please don't punish the messenger. Keep in mind that researchers earn 75% of the question value for their expertise and/or ability to research a subject. Most of what I offer here is from my own experience, but I also performed multiple searches which, unfortunately, turned up zero results, such as: "restore an MSN group" "recreate an MSN group" "recover an MSN group" ...and so on. Oh...one last desperate possibility exists, and that is that your site has been archived by the Wayback Machine (mine was): http://www.archive.org/index.php Enter the URL of your group or the potential mirror URL: http://groups.msn.com/YourGroupName/ ...or http://www.communities.ninemsn.com.au/YourGroupName/ If either one has been archived, your photos and files may have been archived, as well, and you can navigate within the archives by using the actual links on the pages within the Wayback Machine. Best of luck! sublime1-ga
