Size of USA businesses

• How many U.S. businesses have more than 1000 employees? What industry's do they represent? What source(s) did you use to find this information? *note* we have spoken to all of the major list publishers and resellers, I am looking for quantifiable and accurate statistics, not third party ( Dun and Bradstreet, InfoUSA etc) lists

The US Census Bureau recently published its most up-to-date economic census of the business community, which you can find here: http://censtats.census.gov/cgi-bin/cbpnaic/cbpsel.pl 2004 County Business Patterns The second table on the page is titled, "Number of Establishments by Employment-size class", and includes a column for the number of businesses with 1,000 or more employees. Note that on the left-hand side of the table, there is a button labeled "Detail". Pressing this for any industry sector will take you a table with the sector broken out in more detail, in case this is of interest to you. I trust this data is esactly what you needed.
