How can you bring your friends to the aucton in animal crossing city folk?

Answer:
You cannot,when in WI-FI connection you may not board the bus until gates are closed. If you try to board it will say "Bus to City" "Looks like the bus isn't coming for a while". So there is no way other to get to the auction with friends,only because it is in the City.
