Why won't iPod Touch connect to iTunes or computer?

Why will my new iPod Touch (the newest generation) not connect to my iTunes but it will to my computer just to charge?

    If iTunes is not recognizing your iPod Touch the first thing to do is make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. If you do have the latest version, try restarting the computer. If that fails try re-installing iTunes. If that fails (and you are on a Windows PC), check to see that the iPod service is running in Services.
