How can you get an entry level position in database administration without experience but a certification in the field of database?

  I can help you with that. In my case, I had neither experience nor certification. Currently I am a database administrator making $70,000/yr. How? The key is in the title "Database Administrator." What does it mean? As it turns out it has two definitions: 1) a person who maintains a database server, the hardware and software that the database runs on, administers its users access rights, and tunes its performance for the many different users of the server 2) a person who creates databases, tables, views, and SQL statements and links those databases and tables with other technology (like web sites) (as a back-end developer), and reporting tools (like Crystal Reports or Excel, or what-have-you). I am the 2nd kind. I found my job through the government as a contractor. I do not think I could have landed the job myself, though; the secret is that a normal civilian cannot apply for a government contract and expect to win it.
