How do I become a Respiratory Therapist?

How long does it take to become a respiratory therapist?

  • Answer:

Some respiratory therapists go to school anywhere from 14 months to 4 years so they have an associates or a bachelors. Depending on work experience or schooling they are eligible to take their boards. Their credentialing is through NBRC the national boards of respiratory care. Some older therapist were "grandfathered in". This profession is relatively new and some had enough experiences as "OJT's"-on the job trained. You can look at NBRC.org for anymore info-- It is a 2 year degree usually from a community or junior college.
