What are different options in Law?

I bought a car from Texas, and on the contract the VIN number of the car is totally different. What's the law on this, and what are my options?

  • Answer:

Stolen vehicles are funneled throughout the world by incorrect information, such as the v.i.n. or vehicle identification number. in your case, this may be an honest mistake. first, i would call a police officer, to my home, and ask that he check the vin for stolen. this will relieve any anxiety of a stolen vehicle. if the vin is valid, next contact the previous owner and explain the situation. if you are in another state, other than texas, have the paperwork corrected and faxed to you. if you feel criminal intent was involved with the vin, you will have to contact the auto theft section of the police department, in the town the sale took place, in texas. this police department will have jurisdiction.
