How to fix Out Of Range on my monitor?

When I try and load the game, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, I get a message on my 17'' 1280x1024 resolution LCD monitor that says, "Out of Range". How can I fix this?

  • Answer:

Adjust your video resolution to a setting that is within the range of your monitor. Now i understand that this might seem impossible since the video resolution setting is usually in-game or in the option screen and you cannot access this since every time you run your game it goes out of range. What i recommend is to hook up a standard VGA monitor (provided it has a resolution over 1280x1024) and adjust the setting and then use your 17" afterwards. If in case you are unable to do so, you can try reinstalling the game (since the default resolution in almost every game is less than 1280x1024) Or if you still cannot fix it this way try counting how many "enters" and what "arrow keys" you have to input to adjust the setting (i.e, 1 enter, 2 arrow downs, 1 enter, 3 arrow lefts and 1 enter) I call this typing blind.

Well i found this a few searches down in google and thought i'd post it here. i had the same problem and this worked for me. 1) Click Start button > Run. 2) At the prompt type: REGEDIT. The registry editor will open. 3) Click on the plus next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER 4) Click on the plus next to SOFTWARE 5) Click on the plus next to Troika 6) Click on the plus next to Vampire 7) Highlight Settings on the left 8) On the right right-click on the ScreenHeight and select modify 9) Make sure the base is set to Decimal instead of Hexadecimal 10) Enter the value for the screen height (this is the second of the two numbers, so if you wanted 1280x1024 you would enter 1024 here) 11) Click on OK 12) On the right right-click on the ScreenWidth and select modify 13) Make sure the base is set to Decimal instead of Hexadecimal 14) Enter the value for the screen width (this is the first of the two numbers, so if you wanted 1280x1024 you would enter 1280 here) 15) Click on OK 16) Exit the registry editor
