Why is my PC internet slow when I use Xbox live?

To connect to xbox live can you connect the ethernet cord from your xbox into your modem and use usb to connect to the internet but my pc does not accept ethernet derectly into the tower so does that mean i cant connect?

    Hello. From what you have said, you should be able to use USB from the modem to the computer, and Ethernet cable from Xbox 360 to modem. You probably won't be able to go on the internet on both devices at the same time though, because the small one port modems are only really designed for one device at a time. I presume this is a free modem that came when you ordered broadband? If you needed to use both Xbox and PC on the Internet at the same time, you would need to put a network card in the PC and buy a network switch. £30 should be enough if you were to install the network card yourself.
