Does anyone know about snake bites?

Does anyone know what the stats are for pet snake bites in the USA or Canada?

  • Answer:

It varies. If you have a non venomous snake, like a constrictor, they will only bite you if your hands smell like their food, or if they are unfamiliar with you. Most captive bred snakes won't though. Most venomous snakes will always bite you. They are not good pets if you are an inexperienced handler. ALL snakes will try to bite you if you reach for their head while picking them up. You must ALWAYS grab them by the middle of their body AFTER AND ONLY AFTER they are aware you are picking them up. Startled snakes bite. I am not aware of the stats but snakes bite because that is their only line of defense. If they know that you mean them no harm, you will have a good friend for a long time.
