Is the Oprah show always live?

Do you think the majority of people that go to live tapings of daytime talkshows go because they like the host, or because they just want the free stuff the host hands out during the show(Oprah Winfrey/Free Cars)? Would you do that?

  • Answer:

If I had a personal/family problem I would not discuss it on national TV. I think that a lot of people have reached such a desperate point and they see that these shows are a cheap solution. Counseling is expensive and even when you foot the bill, you can get even better support provided by one of these chat shows. If one think they are right, they might want to feel publicly vindicated. I have no doubt that the extra hand-outs are an incentive.

I would definitely go to a taping of a talk show regardless of whether I liked the host. I am always up for new oportunities and I think it would be a lot of fun. Hand Outs would certainly be a bonus and I wouldn't be tactless enough to boo or heckle. If it was a host that went against my moral or ethical code, I wouldn't feel comfortable going on the show though.

I think it is a bit of both for the majority. I probably wouldn't go to an Oprah show (other than for geographic reasons), but when I see her giving away stuff I do think it would be cool to get that free stuff - but also some of it I would never use, so it would be pointless.

In the UK they pay students to attend those shows...
